The irrefutable case for a national health care system. Available Now!

DESCRIPTION
By controlling medical services and policies nationwide, insurance conglomerates and pharmaceutical companies are literally Practicing Medicine Without a License. Don Sloan, MD, exposes how the medical community has fallen prey to these corporations and makes the case for a radical solution: a single-payer, universal health plan for everyone mandated by law.

As a weapon in the fight against The Corporate Takeover of Healthcare in America, this book:

  • presents a comprehensive critique of our failing healthcare system
  • gives historical context to the current political debate
  • articulates the need for radical reform
  • makes the case for a national universal healthcare plan

As the Obama administration battles and weaves to pass healthcare legislation, voters and lawmakers need the political context and clear solutions. Dr. Sloan lays out the real story and argues that only when the U.S. government establishes a universal healthcare plan managed for service, not for private profit, will we be able to provide sufficient care to everyone.

YOU can help make healthcare a legal right, not a costly privilege!

In his characteristic take-no-prisoners style, Dr. Don Sloan explains why our healthcare system is broken beyond repair and what to do about it. HMOs and hospitals are now allied against the interests of patients and of doctors who are trained to care for them. Only the administrators benefit in a system that wastes an outrageous amount
of money on paperwork. This book pinpoints why the public resists the obvious solution.
It is a bracing tonic for anyone who ever interacts with the healthcare system—which is to say, all of us.
~ Hara Estroff Marano, Editor at Large, Psychology Today

This book dramatically demonstrates why our present system, all based on maximizing corporate profits, inevitably short changes the sick and needy and ignores preventive care that could avert potential illness in countless others.
~ Representative John Conyers, Democrat Party, Michigan

REVIEWS
Dr. Don Sloan doesn’t just sit around intellectualizing about the need for a national single payer healthcare system in this country. He pours his energy into helping to build the movement providing the impetus for political success for this growing national sentiment. Don insists in his book that our major problem is the “medical industrial complex,” those corporations that burn up over 1/3rd of the money we spend for healthcare and don’t provide us any healthcare at all— the insurance companies. Their “partners in crime”, the pharmaceutical drug companies do provide some needed drugs, but we are highly over-charged for those drugs, particularly under the Bush Prescription Drug Plan. In addition, the money we pay them doesn’t provide most of the research into new drugs. It is a well-hidden fact that we, the public, are already paying for most of the primary research, funded with our tax money. “Practicing Medicine Without a License” gives the reader a view into Sloan’s thinking and encourages us all to redouble our efforts toward healthcare-NOW for everybody. We can afford it. He shows us how.
~ Marilyn Clement, National Coordinator, Healthcare-NOW
