Beauty and edge merge in Grace and Tranquility. With mastery of feel and expression, the CD effortlessly dances through genres, taking the music from funk to folk, rock to Americana, all woven together into one seamless whole. The CD is a companion to Alan’s elegant book, with the lyrics adapted from and inspired by the book. The book, through photographs and meditative prose, offers a daily practice of tranquility even in difficult times.

The band features songwriters Cilette Swann (Canadian/US) on vocals, with her haunting 5-octave range, and virtuoso musician/producer, Roman Morykit (UK). They’ve independently sold over 110,000 CDs and 1.5 million digital downloads. They’ve also had over 120 placements in TV shows and motion pictures, including: Felicity, Providence, Roswell and After Sex. Gypsy Soul has been named as critic’s choice in over sixty publications and has had Top 40 hits on diverse radio charts nationwide. The CD release concert for Grace and Tranquility headlined the opening night of Southern Oregon’s Britt Festivals, drawing 900 fans. The CD is now receiving radio airplay nationally, after the band was signed to Coherent Music for promotion, alongside Heart and the Jayhawks’ Mark Olson. For the book release, Gypsy Soul and Eric Alan created a multi-media event as part of the Southern Oregon Arts and Lecture Series—a series which also featured Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer David Hume Kennerly.

Eric Alan, besides authoring and photographing Grace and Tranquility and his previous book Wild Grace: Nature as a Spiritual Path, contributed the initial lyrics to the CD, and recently contributed a column to the Eugene Weekly entitled “Taking Nature to the Streets.” Wild Grace inspired workshops on the reintegration of nature into daily life, a regular column reaching several eastern states, and multi-media collaborations with several nationally recognized musicians. He also broadcasts for KLCC-FM, after a long tenure as music director of Jefferson Public Radio.

Cilette, Roman and Eric have consciously cultivated a path of excellence, positivity and service, and in this soulful collaboration, the three hope that the book and CD will inspire the same in others. The band’s annual benefit concerts, now in their 10th year, have raised thousands of dollars for local charities in the Northwest, and their Voices Unheard project gives voice to women and children affected by sex trafficking. Eric Alan’s previous book and events have also helped to raise awareness and money for numerous regional nonprofits.

Gypsy Soul will also perform live on KLCC’s “Fresh Tracks” at 2 p.m. on Friday, Novemer 5th.
