Angelika Thusius

Angie_Thusius_standingAngelika Thusius researched posture and movement for more than thirty years. This research led to her creation of the Kentro® Body Balance method, which she has taught since the mid-1980s in America and Europe. Ms. Thusius is certified by the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Paris, France.

Kentro® Body Balance offers a series of gentle movements that stretch, release, exercise, and invigorates every area of our bodies, during both rest and activity.  These movements dissolve joint, back and neuromuscular problems and they can be practiced anywhere, anytime.  The innovative Kentro® method is based on optimal body mechanics.  It is the culmination of thirty years of sensing movements from within as well as observing children and adults who move with lasting limberness.  Students of Kentro® report remarkable improvements in the mobility of their necks, back, hips, shoulders, as well as fuller respiration and increased poise.

Kentro® guidelines blend balancing and centering the body.  Body Balancing allows us to move with our weight appropriately distributed throughout the body.  Physical Centering moves us beyond measurable balance; it involves an affectionate attitude toward our bodies, an attitude that enlivens our sensory system and is essential to generating suppleness and grounding.  As a result, posture is no longer “right” or “wrong;” it becomes a fluid part of us that soothes and strengthens us in our habitual gestures.
